We’re joined by Emma and Joel Sim, from Avalon Farm Stay. Like many other Tree Changers, they experienced a few towns in the Riverina before finding the place they wanted to settle down.
Along with Emma’s parents Philip and Alison and their four children, they operate 1500 acres of farmland on “Avalon” and “Warrawong” just outside the small village of The Rock in the NSW Riverina and are the fourth generation to farm in the area.
They run a traditional sheep and wheat farming enterprise and in 2021 they renovated the early 1920’s Avalon homestead overlooking The Rock Nature Reserve – Kengal Aboriginal Place.
Avalon Farm Stay is a secluded farmhouse on the banks of Burkes Creek. Emma and Joel have a passion in supporting local artists using the farmstay to showcase artworks. They also make Avalon Food hampers from local businesses to complement your stay.
