About the role
This position is responsible for leading staff to carry out maintenance, construction and treatment plant operation activities within the Water and Sewer Department. These activities include supervision and planning of pipelaying, sewer jetting, hydrant maintenance, repairing manholes, replacing service lines, replacing water meters and many other tasks. It also includes supervision of the water and sewer treatment plants. Procurement of materials for the maintenance, construction and treatment plants is also a part of this role.
There are two interchangeable variations of the role (shown below) with the occupants being rotated as required.
Water and Sewer Team Leader – ConstructionWater and Sewer Team Leader – Maintenance and OperationsThe position will also be responsible for controlling the Water and Sewer emergency phone when they are on call, and responding to these calls as required, as well as allocating resources such as other on call staff, plant and equipment.
Duties
Water Sewer Operations, Maintenance and Construction - Overseeing operation, maintenance and construction of Narrandera Shire's water treatment and distribution, sewer collection and treatment and water recycling assets.Supervision - Supervising staff and contractors to achieve the expected objectives and outcomes determined by Council.Administration - Accurately completing all documentation necessary for Council's records in accordance with Council's policies and procedures. Customer Service - Ensuring customer service is provided in a prompt, friendly, helpful and courteous manner and in accordance with Council's procedures and requirements. Communication - Providing timely reports to the Water Sewer Manager on the progress of programs, the resolution of customer requests and any legal and regulatory issues.
