This will be achieved through knowledge sharing, innovative thinking and a collaborative science-based approach. About the Role Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and rural innovation? Rice Extension, and AgriFutures funded project, is looking for a proactive and technically minded Technical Officer to support our mission of delivering cutting-edge, evidence-based improvements to rice-based farming systems. In this dynamic and field-focused role, you will: Monitor focus sites and farming systems areas, ensuring equipment is operational and data is being captured accurately.Collect, record, and analyse crop data, including phenology, field inspections, and harvest planning.Report findings to the Rice Extension Team to guide decision-making and support best practice development.Assist in the planning and delivery of extension events, including field days and grower workshops.Help communicate industry updates and innovations from Rice Extensio Join a supportive, dedicated team working hands-on with growers, researchers, and industry stakeholders to enhance profitability and sustainability in the rice industry. ***We have 2 roles available. One in the Murrumbidgee Valley (Griffith/Leeton area), the other based in the Murray Valley (Deniliquin Area). About You We’re looking for someone who is: Technically skilled with an interest in data, crop monitoring, and applied researchA confident communicator who enjoys engaging with farmers and stakeholdersWell-organised, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative teamCommitted to safety and sustainable farming practices Qualifications in agriculture, environmental science, or a related field are desirable, along with experience in field data collection, crop monitoring, or farm systems. This role will suit someone with experience in a similar role. Alternatively, we would consider a recent graduate (12 months) looking to gain hands on research experience in the field.
