An opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced person with vision and drive to help strengthen Leeton Shire’s position as an attractive place to do business, invest, live and raise the visitor economy with a commitment to developing tourism within the Shire. The position is a dedicated role, reporting to the Director Economic & Community Development, to improve Council’s capacity and capability to develop and drive proactive programs that: · Facilitate business attraction, retention and expansion · Expand and develop tourism through existing and new opportunities The applicant will possess a broad knowledge of economic, business and tourism development drivers in regional NSW and have highly advanced relationship management and communication skills. The ability to conduct market research and develop business cases to support project planning and funding applications is critical, supported further by significant experience leading advocacy campaigns. A positive and engaging disposition is essential. They must hold a degree or an appropriate tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Economics or other relevant area. A minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience is also essential. Salary and Conditions: The position is Grade 17 in Council’s salary system ($104,722 - $117.291 per annum plus 12% superannuation) depending upon qualifications and experience. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. The full-time position is 70 hours per fortnight with a monthly Rostered Day Off. Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo a Functional Assessment which entails an Alcohol & Other Drugs screening and Medical Assessment. Leeton is based in the Western Riverina and is the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. With a population of around 11,500 and its own airport (with Narrandera), Leeton’s agricultural and manufacturing prowess is second to none.
