This isn't your average tractor-driving role; it is a unique opportunity to blend high-level broadacre farming with precise R & D trial work. If you are looking for a position that offers variety, professional growth, and the chance to influence the future of Australian agronomy, we want to hear from you. The Employer: Brill Ag is a multifaceted business that extends far beyond the farm gate. They operate a commercial dryland cropping business, an agronomy R & D arm, and a consultancy service. Your work here directly contributes to real-world impact by developing and communicating applied agronomy practices to farmers throughout southern NSW. The team at Brill Ag values innovation and connection, offering an environment where you are exposed to many different farming systems and industry leaders, with trial sites spanning a 200km radius. As the Leading Hand, your primary responsibility will be the operation and maintenance of machinery across both broadacre farming and small-plot R & D operations, in addition to liaising with casual staff. The broadacre side consists of 1,400 HA of continuous cropping with wheat, barley, canola, faba beans, lupins and and vetch. Working with the existing team of staff, your role will include spraying, spreading, seeding, and harvesting, as well as truck driving and site maintenance. The R & D component adds a layer of precision, requiring you to assist with trial operations such as sampling plots and soil testing. You will be working with a variety of crops, including wheat, barley, canola, and pulses, utilising everything from large-scale tractors to specialised analytical equipment. The Offer An attractive remuneration package, commensurate with experience and skills, will be negotiated with the successful applicant. You will be provided with a work ute for travel to and from work, which includes some private travel provisions. Understanding the importance of professional development, the employer is committed to providing training and learning opportunities.
