Job post summary Date posted: 28 January 2026 Pay: A$75,000.00-A$85,000.00 per year Job Description: About the Role We are seeking an experienced Chef (Chef de Partie level) at Star Hotel Albury. This is a hands-on role suited to a chef with strong Australian pub or hotel experience who can work independently during service and assist with kitchen leadership. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily kitchen operations during service periods to ensure smooth workflow and timely food service Lead and manage a designated kitchen section independently, including preparation, cooking, and presentation Provide on-the-job supervision, guidance, and training to chefs, cooks, and kitchen hands Monitor food quality, portion control, and consistency in line with business standards and customer expectations Oversee food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance across the kitchen at all times Coordinate with front-of-house and management teams to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction Support stock management including ordering, stock rotation, inventory control, and waste minimisation Assist with kitchen rostering, handovers, and service planning during peak trade and functions Contribute to the continuous improvement of kitchen processes to enhance productivity, cost control, and service efficiency Essential Requirements Minimum 3–5 years full-time experience as a Chef in Australia Experience working in pubs, hotels, or high-volume commercial kitchens Ability to manage a kitchen section independently Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure Desirable Experience working at Chef de Partie level Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) Experience with functions, events, and large-scale service Strong teamwork and communication skills
